Pszinapszis – Creative Design for Mental Health Advocacy
Volunteering work for a student-led psychology group: weekly social media, event design and merchandise.
Background
Pszinapszis is a student-led psychology group sharing mental health content and hosting events. These range from film screenings addressing social or personal issues, followed by discussions with renowned psychologists, to more interactive activities.
My role
I was part of the design group and worked on the weekly social media posts and event design, as well as merchandise.
Social media
Showing complex psychological topics on Instagram was a challenge. I made sure the posts stayed engaging and easy to digest.
I'm proud of this work: my posts reached many more people and were liked by over 3,000 people.
P/SZIMBIÓZIS
After many posts building interest in psychology, the group hosts its main event of the year. People can join workshops, listen to lectures and discussions, and even take part in a soul-soothing yoga session.
Our team decided on a style and then everyone had their own responsibility. I worked on prints, including posters and the armbands for the event.
Merch
Participants always have the chance to take home some merch as a keepsake. This year I was responsible for designing the new merchandise graphics. The goal was a fun design that isn't obviously psychology themed. We offered t-shirts, sweaters, tote bags and more, each reflecting the spirit of the event.

Conclusion
Pszinapszis was a great way to gain a different kind of experience in social media engagement. There were fewer boundaries than in a company, and I loved the creative energy the group gave me.
This volunteering was a great first experience, and it let me connect my work and hobby with my interest in psychology.
